National Games postponed due to COVID-19

Panjim: The National Games Organising Committee (NGOC) has decided to postpone the National Games which were to be held in Goa due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The NGOC will hold a meeting in the end of September to decide on fixing alternate dates for the National Games, expressed Goa Sports Minister Manohar Azgaonkar.

The state government will take advise for the Union Ministry of Sports. “We would need four months advance notice to organise the games,” asserted Azgaonkar.

Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stated, “Goa ready to host National Games, but not be possible in October due to Covid19, will write to Union Sports Ministry to communicate with IOA to hold review & decide fresh dates, Goa has spent more than Rs 400 crore on preparations for games.”
