Odisha CM announces 22 new NACs and upgrades one NAC to Municipality

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced 22 new NACs in Odisha and upgraded Bhanjanagar NAC into Municipality.

Chief Minister Office (CMO) sources said the 22 new Notified Area Councils (NACs) were created in 13 districts of Odisha.

The new NACs will function in Boudh,Bolangir, Bargarh, Balasore,Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Sambalpur, and Subarnapur districts of the state.

Official sources said the new NACs were created in view of the rising population in the area, socioeconomic development, and the demands of the local people.

The people have demanded new NAC and municipality status during the visit of 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian to various districts in the state.

Patnaik hoped that the newly constituted NACs and the municipality would work for the overall development of the areas.

On February 24, the Chief Minister announced 34 new NACs and upgraded five NACs into municipalities in 20 districts of the state.

With the new announcement, so far, 56 new NACs have been created in the state during the last two months, while six NACs have been upgraded to municipalities
