Odisha STF seizes 1.3kg brown sugar

Bhubaneswar: The sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF)Bhubaneswar with the help of Balasore police have arrested an interstate drug peddler from Balasore and seized 1380 grams of brown sugar and other incriminating materials from his possession.

STF identified the accused as Sk Rafiq @ Ruga of Panchkula, West Bengal and at present residing at Masjidgali, Arada Bazar under Sahadevkhunta police station of Balasore district.

STF sources here on Thursday said on the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by a team of STF, BBSR with the help of Balasore Police at Masjidgali near Railway Level Crossing, Aradabazar, Balasore on Wednesday day and arrested the accused Sk Rafiq @ Ruga.

During the search contraband brown sugar weighing 1380 gm and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from his possession.

He was arrested and is being forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Special Judge, Balasore.

In this connection, a Case U/s 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 was registered. Investigation is on.

The accused was also involved in three other criminal cases including narcotic cases of the Balasore district.

Since 2020, STF has seized more than 57 Kg of Brown Sugar 202 Gram of Cocaine and more than 111 quintals of Marijuna, 750 grams of opium and arrested more than 158 drug peddlers.
