Patna: Demanding hike in the wages of Anganwadi workers and raising the issue of deteriorating law and order in the state, the entire opposition created ruckus in the Bihar assembly on Tuesday.

As soon as the house assembled for the day, leader of the opposition and BJP MLA Vijay Kumar Sinha and Satyadev Ram of CPI-ML, which is supporting the Grand Alliance government, tried to draw the attention of the house towards the ongoing agitation of the Anganwadi workers including sevikas and sahaikas for increase in their wages.

Meanwhile, on the order of the Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhari, the proposals taken up in the business advisory committee on Monday were adopted in the house.

Thereafter, when the speaker took up the question hour, the opposition leader again raised the issue of wages of Anganwadi workers saying that the wages were meagre and should be increased.

The other members of the BJP, shouting slogans in support of the demand related to Anganwadi workers trooped to the well of the house waving posters.

The CPI-ML members too were in the well on the same issue.

Demanding reply from the government on the issue, the leader of the opposition said that in all other states, the wages were higher whereas, the Bihar government was not increasing the wages of the Anganwadi sevikas and sahayikas.

He said that the agitating Anganwadi workers were facing atrocities at the hands of the administration.

Sinha alleged that the state government was trying to suppress the voice. Referring to a murder that took place in front of a police station, the leader of the opposition said the law and order has totally collapsed in the state.

The question hour continued amid pandemonium from the opposition members at the well of the house.

The Speaker requested the members to resume their seats and change their behaviour otherwise the chair would be forced to take stern action.

He asked the members to raise their issues under rules laid and at an appropriate time.

Intervening, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said the government was ready to reply on any issue if raised as per the rules laid and business of the house.

The Speaker tried to bring the house in order but in vain following which the house was adjourned till 12 noon.
