Manila: Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos has chosen Foreign Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro as the new foreign secretary, the country’s Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin has said.

A seasoned career diplomat, Lazaro, 66, will replace Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, who will be the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Bersamin said in a recent press briefing.

Manalo is among the cabinet members Marcos removed from posts amid an ongoing reshuffle to recalibrate the Marcos team.

On Thursday, Major General Nicolas Torre III was chosen as the next chief of the Philippine National Police.
