Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has condoled the death of spiritual leader Bangaru Adigalar, who passed away here on Thursday evening, even as the Tamil Nadu Unit of the BJP cancelled all party events for the next two days as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
In a social media post, Mr Modi said “Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri Bangaru Adigalar Ji.”
“His life, rich in spirituality and compassion, will forever be a guiding light for many. Through his tireless service to humanity and emphasis on education, he sowed the seeds of hope and knowledge in the lives of many”, he said.
“His work will continue to inspire and guide generations”, Mr Modi said, adding. “Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti”.
Mr Amit Shah said “Deeply saddened by the demise of Padma Shri Bangaru Adigalar Ji, the head of Melmaruvathur Siddhar Peedam.”
“Adigalar Ji was known for his spiritual insights that transcended the realms of ritualistic practices. My sincerest condolences to his family and followers in this hour of grief”, he said, in a post on X.
Meanwhile, the BJP State Chief K.Annamalai said all the party events, including his resumption of state-wide padayatra, stands cancelled following the death of ‘Amma”, as Mr Bangaru Adigalar was affectionately called by his ardent devotees.
In a post on X, Mr Annamalai said “following the news that founder of Melmaruvathur Adiparashakti Siddhar Peedam, Tavathiru Bangaru Adikalar has attained salvation, Amma’s section is saddened and all our party programs are canceled for the next two days.”
“After making good arrangements for tomorrow’s walk (part of his padayatra), I request all Tirupur district administrators, BJP brothers and sisters and the general public who are waiting to participate in the program to respect the change in the date of the walk due to unavoidable reasons”, he said.
“The date of walk for Tirupur North and South assembly constituencies will be announced soon. Om Shanti.”, he said.
Already leaders of various parties, including BJP National President J P Nadda, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K.Palaniswami, deposed AIADMK leader O.Panneerselvam, PMK Founder Dr.S.Ramadoss, PMK President and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Anbumani, AMMK Leader TTV Dhinakaran, among others, condoled the death of Bangaru Adigalar.
While condoling his death, Mr Stalin announced that the funeral of the spiritual leader will be held with full state honours on Friday rpt Friday He will visit Melmaruvathur and pay his last respects.
