PM Modi, Australian PM Albanese hold bilateral talks in Sydney

New Delhi/Sydney: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Wednesday held bilateral talks during which they discussed cooperation in trade and investment, defence and security, renewable energy, critical minerals and education among other issues.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a tweet said the two leaders also exchanged views on India’s initiatives under its G20 presidency, UN Security Council reform, and the Indo-Pacific.

“Energising India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

“PM @narendramodi held bilateral meeting with PM @AlboMP

in Sydney.

“Agenda covered broad range of issues including cooperation in areas of trade & investment, defence & security, renewable energy, green hydrogen, critical minerals, education, migration and mobility, and people to people ties

“Both leaders also exchanged views on India’s initiatives under its G20 presidency, UN Security Council reform, and regional developments including the Indo-Pacific.”

The Australian PM in tweets said on the talks:

“Australia and India are working more closely together to boost renewable energy in both our countries.

“And we’ll increase the number of top graduates and young professionals who live and study in each other’s countries, then bring those experiences home.

“Our two countries already have such a strong friendship, and our Indian-Australian community has contributed so much.

“And today, together with Prime Minister @narendramodi, we’re making the ties between India and Australia even stronger.”

Earlier, PM Modi was given a ceremonial welcome at the Admiralty House in Sydney ahead of their talks.
