Washington/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with “dear friend” US President Donald Trump in the White House today, during which they discussed a wide range of subjects including defence and security, trade, energy and people-to-people ties as well as international developments.
PM Modi in a post on X said he had held an excellent meeting with President Trump, and the talks would add significant momentum to the bilateral friendship.
“An excellent meeting with @POTUS @realDonaldTrump at the White House. Our talks will add significant momentum to the India-USA friendship!”
He also posted:
“President Trump often talks about MAGA. In India, we are working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in American context translates into MIGA. And together, the India-USA have a MEGA partnership for prosperity!”
The MEA spokesperson in a post said:
“Making greater strides in the India-US special relationship!
“PM @narendramodi met with @POTUS @realDonaldTrump of USA at the White House today in Washington D.C.
“The leaders held extensive talks on a wide range of subjects including trade & technology, defence & security, energy and people-to-people ties. Both sides also exchanged views on regional & international developments of mutual interest.”
Earlier, in his remarks to the media, the US President said: “I am thrilled to welcome my friend PM Modi. He is a special man,” and added that the two nations share a special bond.
“The relationship with India, PM Modi has never been better,” President Trump said.
US President Trump presented Prime Minister Modi with a signed copy of ‘Our Journey Together’, featuring significant moments of their friendship and shared milestones.
