Prez Murmu arrives on 2-day visit to J&K

Srinagar: President Droupadi Murmu arrived here on Wednesday on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

She was received at the Srinagar Airport by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

The President was accorded a guard of honour on her first visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

The President will grace the 20th convocation of the University of Kashmir at Srinagar on Wednesday.

She will be the Chief Guest of the Convocation, deliver the convocation address, and present degrees and medals to outstanding scholars.

Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir, UT, and Chancellor Kashmir University, Manoj Sinha, will preside over the ceremony.

President Murmu will also interact with the members of local tribal groups and women self-help groups at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar, during the day.

She will also attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour at the Raj Bhavan, an official spokesman said.

The President will visit Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine on Thursday, where she will inaugurate a remodeled Parvati Bhavan and skywalk.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Srinagar for the President’s visit to Kashmir on Wednesday.
