Chandigarh: The Bathinda police have arrested two persons in social media influencer Kanchan Kumari aka Kamal Kaur murder case, SSP Amneet Kondal said on Friday.

Kondal told media that the arrested have been identified as Jaspreet Singh Mehron and Nimrajit Singh Harike, who are said to be the aides of Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehron.

The SSP said Kanchan, who lived in Ludhiana, was allured to come to Bathinda for a promotional by Amritpal Singh Mehron. However, his aides allegedly strangulated her to death. The motive behind the murder, according to the SSP, was that Mehron had warned her not to make “vulgar” videos.

Police said that Mehron was involved in moral policing earlier too and a case of threatening a producer was registered against him.

Kanchan’s body was found in a car parked in Adesh hospital on Wednesday night.
