Security Forces arrest militants, bust drug smuggling operations in Manipur

Imphal: In a series of well-coordinated operations, Security Forces and the Manipur Police have arrested several individuals involved in extortion and narcotics trafficking, reinforcing the state’s intensified efforts against militancy and drug-related crimes.

An active militant was arrested from Khurai Heikru Makhong Masjid Maning under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East district. He was apprehended from the vicinity of his residence.
In a separate operation, a self-styled corporal was arrested from his residence at Wangkhei Angom Leikai under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East district. He was found to be involved in extorting money from the general public in the valley areas.

Another active militant was arrested near Minuthong Bridge in Sekta Makha Leikai for his involvement in extortion and illegal money collection from shops, businesses, and the public.

In a separate anti-narcotics operation, Manipur Police arrested Kshetrimayum Naoba of Kwakeithel Ningthemkol, under Singjamei Police Station, from the Imphal College area. He was caught transporting 288 bottles of the psychotropic substance Codeine Phosphate, which were concealed in an e-rickshaw.

In another major breakthrough, two drug traffickers Lungousiem from Songpi Kholui village and Ngamminlal from Songpi village were arrested near Pioneer Camp along NH-102B, under the jurisdiction of Singhat Police Station in Churachandpur district.

The duo was found in possession of 111 soap cases containing brown sugar, with a total weight of approximately 1.3 kilograms. They were transporting the narcotics using two separate vehicles at the time of their arrest.
