Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday carried out raids at over half a dozen locations in Srinagar district in connection with the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit nurse in the early 1990s, officials said.

According to officials, the searches were conducted at the residences of former Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) commanders, including some who are deceased or currently lodged in jail.

They said nurse Sarla Bhat was abducted in the early 1990s, and her bullet-riddled body was recovered the next day from the Soura area of Srinagar. The case, initially registered at Nigeen Police Station, is now being investigated by the SIA.

Officials said the raids were underway at eight places in Srinagar.
