The Snow Bomb Cyclone hit the USA right before Christmas. On Friday, more than 4 thousand flights were cancelled, and more than 10 thousand flights were affected in all. In the wake of this, many airlines in the USA have given the offer of making changes to the travel without any penalty to the travellers. On the other hand, trains have been cancelled between Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, New York, and Chicago.

More than around 10 crore of the population is under an ‘alert’, and in many cities, the temperature has dropped as down as -30 degree Celsius. An emergency response plan has been developed for 13 states. The temperature in Chicago fell down to -13 degree Celsius. More than 8 inches of snow was seen in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. There is a power cut across thousands of homes. In Georgia, 1.16 lakh people have been affected by the Snow Bomb Cyclone. The cyclone’s impact is also being witnessed in Canada.

In the USA, 60% of the population is affected by a winter warning of some kind, out of which, 17.7 crore people have received the warning of cold winds, 1.1 crore have received the warning of blizzards, another 6.5 crore have been warned about storms, and 5 lakh people have received severe blizzard warnings. The Bomb Cyclone develops into a severe storm in a few hours, and in the meantime, the pressure of the storm falls suddenly.
