Chandigarh: Six villages near the Dharmkot Assembly constituency in Punjab’s Moga district, including Sangheda and Kambhokhurd, have been severely inundated by floodwaters from the Satluj River, with homes submerged under up to 5 feet of water.

Persistent rainfall has worsened the crisis, leaving many families stranded on rooftops as rescue operations continue.

The local administration has evacuated some residents to safety and is distributing rations, with Aadhaar and ration card verification ensuring organized aid delivery.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and his sister Malvika Sood have stepped in to provide relief, with Malvika personally distributing essential supplies in the affected villages near Dharmkot following Sonu’s viral video expressing solidarity with Punjab.

Malvika stated, “We’ve started relief distribution from Moga and will continue across Punjab. Sonu and I are committed to serving until conditions improve and will support families in rebuilding afterward, just as we did during the COVID-19 crisis.”

Locals expressed gratitude, noting, “The government’s rations and the help from Sonu Sood and Malvika Sood are giving us hope in this crisis.”
