New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday launched a scathing attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he accused Opposition of running ‘Bhrashtachari Bachao Abhiyan’ (campaign to save the corrupt) and asked him to stop calling himself “crusader of anti-corruption”.

The statement of the Congress chief comes a day after Modi accused Opposition of running ‘Bhrashtachari Bachao Abhiyan’ and said “conspiracies are being hatched to end the credibility of the institutions.”

Taking a swipe at PM, Kharge , who is also the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said, “Narendra Modi ji who owns Rs 20,000 crore in Adani’s shell companies? Are Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi etc members of your ‘Bhrashtachari Bhagao Abhiyan’? Stop image makeover of calling yourself crusader of anti-corruption.”

The Congress president asked PM to constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe into the Hindenburg Research report over Adani Group.

The Hindenburg Research report alleged the Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over the course of decades.

“In the last 9 years, the BJP ran a campaign against corruption, which has rattled the corrupt and corruption.

Whenever, BJP comes to power, it causes a big blow to corruption.
