New Delhi: Congress MP from Wayanad Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in her maiden speech in the Lok Sabha on Friday asked the government to stop preaching on ‘political justice’ and projecting itself as a ‘protector of Constitution’.

The government instead should ‘introspect’ how it is ‘bringing down elected governments in states with money power’, she said.

Participating in the discussion on the “Glorious Journey of 75 years on the Constitution of India”, the first time Lok Sabha MP said, “When we talk of political justice, the ruling party says that in 1975 many things happened, then why don’t you also learn from it. You also apologise for your mistakes. Go for elections on ballot paper”.

Criticising the government for accusing the grand old party of ‘misusing power’, she said, “The ruling party gave an example of Uttar Pradesh let me also give examples as to what happened with Maharashtra government, how an attempt was made to bring down the Himachal Pradesh government with the strength of money and what about the Goa government. Were these governments not elected by the people?”

Priyanka said that the entire country known that the “ruling party has washing machines” and who so ever goes from this side gets cleaned. Taking a jibe the Wayanad MP said, “Many my colleagues are now sitting on the other side. May be they must have all got cleaned up”.

She said that the Constitution has given a ‘suraksha kavach’ (protective shield) but today hatred has spread across denting the ‘suraksha kavach’.

Priyanka said that while the Prime Minister touches the Constitution on his forehead, he forgets to listen to the plights of people of Manipur, Sambhal and Hathras.

“The Prime Minister does not understand that the Constitution of India is not the Constitution of the Sangh. The Constitution of India has given us unity, brotherhood,” she said.

During her speech, the Lok Sabha MP also did not missed a chance to raise the Adani issue, to which the Congress has been demanding a debate in the House since the beginning of the Winter Session.

The Congress leader alleged, “The country is seeing that to save just one man, 142 crore people of the country are ignored. All businesses, resources, airports, ports, industries, railway projects, public sector units, mines and all opportunities are being given to just one man.”

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra and his son were present to watch the speech of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
