Damascus: Suspected Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on Friday, targeting Palmyra Military Airport and nearby military positions in the central province of Homs, the local al-Ekhbaria TV reported.

The strikes reportedly targeted military installations close to the ancient city of Palmyra. The extent of the damage and whether there were casualties remains unclear.

Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria in recent years, primarily targeting Iran-linked militias and Syrian military sites used for weapons storage and transport.

The latest strikes come amid heightened regional tensions
