Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader and Halishahar Municipality Chairman Raju Sahani, arrested by the CBI on Friday in an alleged fund case, will be produced before a CBI court at Asansol on Saturday, official sources said.
A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team arrested Sahani from his Halishahar home in North 24 Parganas and seized Rs 80 lakh in cash, a firearm with five live bullets and property related documents.
Sahani was picked by the CBI in relation to a probe into a ponzi scandal case registered in October 2018.
He has also been accused of misappropriating funds of a company called Sunmarg Welfare Organisation.
In May 2014, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to take over investigations of all ponzi scams in West Bengal and Odisha in which millions of investors were cheated.
Sahani was brought to CBI office here on Friday night.
