TPCC urges CEC to allow Live telecast of Seetharama Kalyanam in Bhadrachalam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan has urged Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar to permit the live telecast of Seetharama Kalyanam in Bhadrachalam.

In a letter addressed to the CEC, a copy of which was released to the media here on Tuesday, Niranjan emphasized the significance of the Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Shrine in Bhadrachalam, highlighting its ancient origins dating back to the 17th century, when it was built by Bhakta Ramdas.

Every year, the Seetharama Kalyanam is celebrated on Sriramanavami Day, drawing thousands of devotees to participate in the celebrations. This age-old tradition holds immense cultural and religious importance, attracting devotees from all corners of the world who eagerly await the live telecast of the event.

Niranjan appealed to the Election Commission to grant permission for the live telecast, suggesting certain restrictions to ensure the sanctity of the event. Specifically, he proposed that the live telecast focus solely on the Kalyana Mandapam and Kalyanam rituals, avoiding the inclusion of the public, politicians, and VIPs.

He further emphasized the need for the District Election Officer (DEO) to supervise the live telecast arrangements meticulously to prevent any violations.

Given the short time available, Niranjan urged for an early decision to respect the sentiments of the lakhs of devotees who cherish the opportunity to witness this sacred event. Failure to permit the live telecast would leave devotees feeling deprived of a significant spiritual experience, he added.
