Bengaluru: Rail services have been significantly disrupted following a collision between Train No. 12578 Mysuru-Darbhanga Express and a goods train near Kavaraippettai Railway Station at around 20:30 hrs.

This was revealed by South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer (Hubballi), Dr. Manjunath Kanamadi.

The incident occurred on the Chennai-Gudur section between Ponneri and Kavaraippettai, approximately 46 km from Chennai, within the Chennai Division, he said.

As a result, several trains have been diverted. Train No. 12296 Danapur-Sir M. An additional stop has been introduced at Tiruttani.

Similarly, Train No. 22353 Patna-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, which departed from Patna on October 10, has been diverted along the same route, skipping Perambur and adding a stop at Tiruttani, he said.

Additionally, Train No. 22306 Jasidih-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, which started its journey from Jasidih on October 11, has also been diverted via Gudur, Renigunta, and Melpakkam, bypassing Perambur, with an extra halt at Tiruttani, Dr. Kanamadi said.
