New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his Independence Day address on Tuesday expressed pain over ethnic clashes in Manipur and violence in Haryana’s Nuh district.

“Today my mind is upset as in some parts of the country one brother is fighting with another brother. In Manipur, two communities are burning each other’s shops and killing each other. In Haryana also two communities are fighting with each other,” said Kejriwal.

Addressing the people on Independence Day at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, Kejriwal said this is the era of science, if people keep fighting with each other then how will India become a world leader? “If India has to become the number one nation in the world, then 140 crore people will have to live like a team,” he said.

“I feel pain as ethnic clashes happen in Manipur state which is not good for the development of India. If we continue to fight each other, then how will India become a ‘Vishwa guru’,” said Kejriwal.

“Delhi government has provided admission facility to 150 children of violence-affected Manipur state in its schools in the national capital so that they can get better education facilities here,” said the CM.

Taking a dig at the Central government, CM Kejriwal posed whether there was any developed country where eight-hour power cuts take place.

“India cannot become a Vishwa guru until there is electricity for 24 hours in every house in the country,’ he remarked.

He claimed that despite the country having a 4.25 lakh megawatt power generation capacity, with a peak demand of only 2 lakh megawatt, power cuts still happen,

He said such power cuts take place because of “mismanagement and corruption”.

“if we weed out corruption and rectify the management people will get round the O’clock electricity,’ he said.

Talking about health issues, Kejriwal said except in Delhi, government hospitals and clinics are in bad shape in several parts of the country. “India cannot become a world guru until every person in the country gets free and good treatment.”
