Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President YS Sharmila was placed under house arrest on Friday as she prepared to proceed to Gajwel in Siddipet.

Sharmila had extended her support to the villagers of Gajwel in Jagdevpur Mandal, Siddipet district, who are protesting against irregularities in the Dalit Bandhu scheme.

As she was about to leave her residence, police intervened and placed her under house arrest, citing a lack of permission.

A tense situation unfolded at Lotus Pond, Sharmila’s residence, as a significant police presence was deployed.

Protesting against the police action, Sharmila condemned their intervention and staged a dharna by sitting on the road. She announced her determination to continue the dharna until Friday evening.
