Sex offense accused Ktk seer in hospital after ‘chest pain’

Chitradurga: Murugha Mutt seer, who has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing minor girls, is admitted at a district hospital on Friday after complaining of chest pain.

The seer was sent to 14-day judicial custody and kept in Chitradurga district jail on Thursday.

Around 10 pm, a police team took the seer into custody amid tight security and took him to an undisclosed location for interrogation led by DySP Anil Kumar, the investigating officer.

Police also detained Rashmi, a hostel warden and second accused in the case.

“We have arrested Murugha Sharanaru. He is being questioned. He will be taken to the new building of the district hospital for medical checkup,” Chitradurga SP K Parashuram said.

Umesh, counsel for the seer, said that a plea will be filed in the court on Friday and expressed confidence of obtaining bail in couple of days.

Breaking his silence, Revenue Minister R Ashok said that the law is taking its course.

The police have also launched a hunt for nabbing three other accused who have absconded following the court adjourned their bail pleas.

Junior pontiff Basavaditya, Parmashivaiah (mutt secretary) and Gangadharaiah are the other accused in the case.

After the arrest of the seer, reins of the mutt have been given to Mahanta Rudra Swamiji from Hebbala mutt.
