The Pakistani pilgrims, who visited the city of Ajmer after two years during the annual festival of the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisthti, shopped a lot this time. This time, them shopping has been noteworthy because unlike the past, wherein the pilgrims bought things which they wanted and not what they needed, this time, their focus was completely on buying crucial items. Amidst an economic crisis, inflation is skyrocketing in Pakistan.

Therefore, for the first time, the Pakistani pilgrims bought different big and small things of various types worth a total of 1.25 crore rupees from Ajmer. In the past, the pilgrims used to shop for special sweetmeats like the sohan halwa, and the Karachi halwa, and other items like perfumes, etc. But this time, things like helmets, cardamom, coconuts, juicer-mixers, bangles, salwar suits, shoes and slippers, bedsheets, jackets, sweaters, and spices, among other things were bought in wholesale.

Most of the pilgrims shopped for items worth 75 thousand to 1 lakh rupees, and according to them, everything is expensive in Pakistan these days, and therefore, essential items were bought from the markets of Ajmer. Some of the Pakistani pilgrims also wanted to buy mopeds from here, but did not receive the permission to do so. They said that in Pakistan, only geared two-wheelers are used, and non-geared vehicles do not exist. And when they saw many people with non-geared vehicles around the markets, they started enquiring about the rates, and some of them wanted to buy mopeds from Ajmer and carry them along.

Grave economic crisis is going on Pakistan during the current times, the situation is such that the prices of commodities like flour and petrol-diesel have skyrocketed. 20 KGs of flour currently costs 2500 rupees and petrol costs 250 rupees per litre. Dry fruits, spices, cloth, helmets, shoes and slippers, medicines, and every small and big item is three to four times more expensive than in India.
