India’s new Parliament is all set to be inaugurated on Sunday, May 28th, in the national capital, and on the very same day, the Finance Ministry will also launch a new 75 Rs coin to commemorate the opening of the new building. The coin will also be a tribute to the 75th anniversary of Indian independence from British rule.

While the face of the new coin will bear the engraving of the new parliament complex, the obverse side will have the Lion Capital of the Ashok Pillar, a ‘Satyamev Jayate’ inscription at the bottom, ‘Bharat’ written in Devanagari script on the left, ‘India’ written in English on the right, and below the Lion Capital will be the Rupee symbol and the denomination value of 75. The coin will be 44 millimetres in diameter, and a unique design will be seen with the edges of the coin being embellished with 200 serrations.

It will weigh 35 grams and its alloy composition will comprise 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel, and 5 percent zinc.

The new Parliament complex will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, with more than 25 political parties expected to be attending the inauguration, while another 20 plus have announced to ‘boycott’ the same.
