Stalin holds road show in Villupuram dist, interacts with people

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who is on a two-day ground level visit to Villupuram district to review the progress of implementation of various welfare measures of the ruling DMK ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls, held a roadshow in Tindivanam in the district on Monday evening.

Thousands of people, including women, carrying their kids, lined up on both sides of the Chennai-Trichy National Highway to greet and welcome him as Mr Stalin, alighted from his car and walked down the road for more than a km, met the public, interacted with them, received petitions and took selfies with them.

After continuing the road show for another few kms, Mr Stalin held a meeting with Party functionaries and discussed about the preparations being made for the Assembly elections.

Mr Stalin also visited a Primary Health Centre at Olakkur near Tindivanam, inspected the facilities along with District Collector C Palani and other officials.

He visited the fever and post-operative wards and checked the availability of medicines and interacted with the patients and heard about the quality of treatment being given to them.

Today, Mr. Stalin will inaugurate a manimandapam (memorial) for 21 “social justice activists” in Villupuram and a memorial hall of former Minister A. Govindasamy.

The Chief Minister had earlier announced that a manimandapam would be dedicated to 21 “social justice activists” who had sacrificed their lives in the police firing during the (Vanniyar) reservation agitation in September 1987. The memorial has been constructed at Vazhudhareddi at a cost of Rs 5.70 crore.
