Deeply impressed by the transformative changes in Jammu & Kashmir: Vice President

Srinagar: Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, during his maiden visit to Srinagar on Thrusday expressed admiration for the city’s natural beauty and the transformative changes taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.

Radhakrishnan arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday evening.

In a post on X, the Vice President said that he experienced the timeless charm, pristine waters, and breathtaking scenery of the region during a morning cruise of Srinagar’s iconic Dal Lake.

“I am deeply impressed by the transformative changes being witnessed in Jammu & Kashmir including improved infrastructure and enhanced connectivity. I appreciate the efforts of the administration in promoting eco-tourism, preserving natural heritage, and creating new livelihood opportunities for local communities. These initiatives have not only boosted tourism but have also ushered in a new era of peace, progress, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir,” Radhakrishnan said on X. He was accompanied by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

After arriving in Srinagar, the Vice President last evening attended a cultural programme at Lok Bhavan, where traditional folk dances and music of the region were showcased, leaving him deeply impressed.

He is also scheduled to attend the 21st Annual Convocation of the University of Kashmir at the Convocation Complex, Hazratbal, as the chief guest.

Security has been beefed up across Srinagar in view of his visit.
