Moscow: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the situation in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine during a working visit to Algeria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement said that on December 19, Bogdanov, who is in Algeria on a working visit, was received by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, met with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, and held regular interdepartmental consultations on the situation in the Sahara-Sahel region under the co-chairmanship of Algerian Foreign Ministry Secretary General Lounes Magramane.

“In the context of comparing notes on current foreign policy issues, special attention was paid to the situation in Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, the situation in North Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region,” the ministry said.

It said that during the meetings, the sides noted the closeness or coincidence of the fundamental approaches of Moscow and Algeria, based on the lack of alternatives to peaceful resolution of existing conflicts and crises in the Middle East and Africa.
