Goa CM to send legal notice to Sardesai

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said he will send a legal notice to Fatorda MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sardesai over later’s statement related to alleged scam in Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department.

‘Will send legal notice to Vijay Sardesai over his remarks alleging Rs 2000 crore scam in TCP Department,’ the Chief Minister told reporters at Mapusa.

Sawant alleged that Fatorda MLA was unnecessarily trying to divert attention of the people by making statements.

However, Sardesai responding to Sawant’s statement said let the notice be sent to him. He pointed out that overall responsibility is of the government and the chief minister.

Last week, Sardesai had alleged that section 16B in the TCP Act had been misused to convert lands by the Sawant-led government and claimed that there was a scam of Rs 2,000 crore.

However, it was Sardesai, who during his brief stint as TCP minister, had introduced the section.

Although, Sardesai has claimed that the section was introduced for genuine and few cases.
