A big announcement was made by the Haryana administration on Tuesday, June 13, and Kurukshetra DC, Shantanu Sharma said that the Haryana government has increased the MSP for sunflowers, along with which, the cases which were registered against farmers will also be taken back. With this move, the deadlock between the farmers and the government seems to be coming to an end.

“A few days earlier, the work of buying the sunflower crop had been started at an MSP of 4800 Rs, and today, the rate has been increased to 5000. The Chief Minister has also promised a 20,000 metric ton factory for the farmers, especially for those who grow sunflowers”, announced Shantanu Sharma.

The farmers said, “Today, the government has accepted our demands, we would like to thank all our allies and the media. It has been proven today that unity has strength, but this is not the final victory. The final victory will be achieved when the government will accept the demand of MSP all across the country”.

“We are ending our protest, and the blocked roads will be opened today. We were protesting so that our crops are bought at the MSP, and we will continue to fight for MSP across India. Our leaders will also be set free soon, and the cases registered against them will be taken back”, commented farmer leader, Rakesh Tikait.

He further stated, “We struggled for a week, and today, with all of yours support, the government has accepted our demands. We do not try to suppress anyone, but ask for our rights”.

Prior to the acceptance of their demands, the farmers were sitting on a protest on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway in Kurukshetra, Haryana, blocking the highway.
