Thiruvananthapuram: Former union Minister and BJP leader V. Muraleedharan has accused the Opposition INDI alliance of attempting to destabilise the country by undermining constitutional institutions and creating an atmosphere of anarchy.

The Opposition’s actions were not mere protests against the Central Government but calculated moves aimed at eroding the credibility of constitutional bodies, he said in a statement.

“The people are rejecting such tactics, and even MPs of the INDI bloc are distancing themselves from it. The recent Vice-Presidential election has clearly proved this,” he said.
Criticising Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the BJP leader maintained that Kerala has been progressing largely due to Central financial assistance, while the Chief Minister continues to claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not provided anything.

He further charged that a section of the Malayalam media was acting as a shield for the INDI alliance.

On the Congress-led Opposition in the State, Muraleedharan said it took nearly two years for them to react even after a priest was allegedly attacked by police under the LDF Government.

Turning to the Sabarimala temple issue, he alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to convert the annual pilgrimage into a political vote-gathering exercise instead of preparing a comprehensive master plan for temple development.

“Corruption, not development, has become the hallmark of this Government,” he remarked.
Referring to alleged irregularities in the purchase of kitchen bins by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the BJP leader said the case underlined the corrupt character of the State Government.

“This Government has become synonymous with corruption and nepotism. People must give a decisive verdict against it in the upcoming local body elections,” he added.
