New Delhi: The Khwairambam Ema Keithal Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, Imphal on Monday launched a scathing attack at the BJP-led government at the Centre over the current crisis in Manipur and alleged that it is not serious for the people of the state.

“Manipur has been passing through a horrible phase of communal violence since May 3. Hundreds have been killed and injured. More than 50,000 displaced people have been living in nearly more than 360 relief camps in Manipur without adequate support of relief from the Government of India,” representatives from the Coordinating panel said at a press conference here.

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi , they said, “While Manipur has been suffering through the most horrible communal catastrophe for more than 45 days, PM Narendra Modi has no time to visit Manipur and even did not say a single word. Since he has no time to come to Delhi, we, 75 women representative of the Khwairambam Ema Keithal Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, Imphal have come to the national capital to meet him.”

The women representatives said, “Why is the PM not responding to any of the issues related to Manipur ? The people of Manipur are suspicious of the government.”

“Why is peace not restored in Manipur despite the Home Minister’s visit to Manipur ? Where is his commitment? What is the future of the youth and students ? Why the government is not serious for the people of Manipur ? The Government of India must ensure to protect territorial and administrative integrity of Manipur. We want peace,” they said.

Later, they also staged a protest at the Jantar Mantar here, wherein they highlighted the current situation in the Northeastern state.
