Bhopal: Election-bound Madhya Pradesh’s political temperature shot up on Monday with the Congress demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi forthwith dismiss Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in the wake of a viral video allegedly associated with the latter’s son Devendra Pratap.

“We also demand an inquiry and have submitted a complaint to the Election Commission. The video reveals Mr Devendra speaking (over cellular phone) with a hitherto-unidentified mining businessperson regarding a ‘transaction’ worth tens of crores in April though the year is not specified.

Delivery of a parcel is mentioned. Besides, New Delhi’s Krishna Menon Marg being referred to houses the official residences of Mr N Tomar and Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah,” Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said at a press conference in the state capital.

Earlier, City Superintendent of Police Rakesh Gupta confirmed that a first information report was registered in Morena on the basis of a malicious propaganda-related written complaint by Mr Devendra whose father is the BJP nominee from that district’s Dimani.

Mr Devendra wrote that no such amount has been deposited in his bank account or those of his kin and their associates.
