MPCB officer trapped in ACB net in Aurangabad

Aurangabad: The Officer of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) of Aurangabad was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on last night while allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 60,000 from a complainant here.

The alleged accused, Arjun Wasram Rathod (57), had sought Rs 1,00,000 bribe from complainant to given clearance certificate to him to starts crackers factory unit at Terkheda in Osmanabad district, says ACB in thier press statement issued on Tuesday.

After the bargaining they settled the bribe amount of Rs 60,000.

Reculant to pay the bribe amount the complainant who was registered a complaint with ACB office in Aurangabad against Mr Rathod.

Acting on the complaint, an ACB team laid a trap at office of Mr Rathod in Aurangabad and had nabbed him red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 60,000 from complainant in presence of eyewitness, they further stated.

An offence under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered with the two MIDC Cidco police station against him, they added.
