Warsaw: Karol Nawrocki, the candidate from the opposition Law and Justice party, is winning the Polish presidential runoff with 51% of the votes, Polish Television reports citing data from the state election commission after processing 99.55% of the ballots.
Ruling Civic Coalition candidate Rafal Trzaskowski received 49% of the votes.
On Sunday evening, voting in the second round of the presidential election ended in Poland. Exit polls gave Trzaskowski a narrow victory – with 50.3% of the votes. A couple of hours later, late poll data showed that Nawrocki was in the lead with 50.7% of the votes.
The official results of the second round of voting will be announced once 100% of the ballots are counted — on Monday evening or on Tuesday.
