Washington: Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will meet with leaders of Palestinian movement Hamas to discuss the US proposal for a ceasefire deal with Israel, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported, citing several sources.

Al Thani will meet tonight in Doha with Hamas leaders, Ravid said on X.

He added that the transition to mediation talks to resolve remaining differences would be discussed at the meeting.

On the night of March 18, the Israel Defense Forces resumed strikes on the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacks continued because Hamas had refused to accept a US plan to extend the ceasefire and free the hostages. According to statistics from the Gaza’s health ministry, since March 18, when Israel resumed shelling, more than 4,000 people have been killed in the semi-exclave, and more than 11,700 have been injured.
