PM Modi launches nationwide HPV drive, unveils Rs 6,686 cr mega projects

Ajmer: In a major push for women’s health and infrastructure development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the nationwide HPV vaccination campaign from Ajmer, administered vaccine doses to young girls and laid the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 16,686 crore

“Our government is committed to holistic development. From Ajmer today, we had the privilege of launching the nationwide HPV vaccination campaign, inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of several projects, and distributing appointment letters to the youth,” he said.

The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 43 major development projects spanning urban development, drinking water supply, roads, railways, irrigation, energy, and industrial infrastructure.

Of the total Rs16,686 crore outlay, 34 projects worth around Rs 8,554 crore pertain to various Rajasthan government departments including Urban Development, Public Health Engineering, Public Works, Energy, Water Resources, and Industries.

Nine major projects related to national highways and energy, worth about ₹8,132 crore, were also launched. Two projects saw foundation stones laid, while seven were inaugurated.

National highway projects worth over Rs 4,516 crore were among the highlights. These include a four-lane greenfield expressway from Bandikui to Jaipur costing around Rs 1,207 crore; an eight-lane carriageway from the NH-76 junction to Ummedpura village on NH-12 under Package 14 of the Delhi–Vadodara Access Controlled Greenfield Expressway; and expansion and strengthening works on highways across the state.

Other significant projects include the foundation laying for an elevated road in Jaipur from Sanganer Flyover to Malpura Gate via Chauradia Petrol Pump, costing over Rs 286 crore; a four-lane elevated road in Jodhpur from Mahamandir to Akhalya Chauraha at an estimated Rs 1,243 crore; and the Malbamori–Mangrol–Baran State Highway project in Baran district, estimated at rs 322 crore.

In the drinking water sector, foundation stones were laid for four packages of the Nonera Mega Drinking Water Project worth over Rs 1,021 crore and five packages of the Parvan Akawad Mega Drinking Water Project costing Rs 2,247 crore.

A Rs 3,616 crore transmission system to facilitate seamless power evacuation from renewable energy hubs in Rajasthan was also inaugurated. Additionally, foundation stones were laid for five 220 kV and two 400 kV grid substations.

To boost industrial development and job creation in western Rajasthan, infrastructure and drinking water supply works were launched in the Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area (JPMIA).
