Hyderabad: President Draupadi Murmu emphasised the importance of acquiring life skills alongside technical knowledge.
During her address to students and alumni at the conclusion of the centenary celebrations of Hyderabad Public School (HPS) in Begumpet, here on Tuesday, she advised students to develop mental strength to effectively navigate life’s challenges. The President noted that individuals demonstrating courage in the face of adversity would become more prominent in the future.
She recommended the integration of holistic development into the curriculum, acknowledging the new National Education Policy (NEP) for providing ample opportunities in this regard. Additionally, President Murmu highlighted the positive impact of sports. The President encouraged students to participate in activities that promote positive thoughts and happiness.
Commending HPS for its exceptional contributions, with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella among its distinguished alumni, President Murmu expressed joy at witnessing students’ encouragement in various fields, particularly in sports, which she believes contributes to creativity and critical thinking.
Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed optimism regarding HPS’s enthusiastic implementation of the new National Education Policy.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to support students outside the classroom, she advocated for a focus on sports as a means of encouragement. The governor lauded HPS for its century-long legacy of producing notable individuals and expressed confidence in the school’s continued success in shaping future leaders.
The event showcased a fusion performance of classical Kuchipudi and folk dance arts by students, attended by dignitaries including State Panchayat Raj Minister Anasuya Sitakka and State Education Secretary B Venkatesham.
