VDG Killings: Gunfight breaks out between SFs, terrorists in J&K Kishtwar

Jammu: A fierce gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists on Sunday morning in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that the search party was fired upon during the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched on specific inputs in the Keshwan area of Kishtwar.

“The security forces retaliated and the encounter started,” said police.

They said that three to four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the gunfight, adding, “This is the same group that killed the two innocent Village Defence Guards (VDGs).

Two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) were killed by terrorists in a remote part of Kishtwar district on November 7.

The two VDGs identified as Nazir Ahmad, son of Muhammad Khalil, and Kuldeep Kumar, son of Amar Chand—both residents of Ohli, Kuntwara used to go to Munzla Dhar (Adhwari) for grazing their cattle but did not return on that day.

The bodies were recovered later.
