New Delhi: Three Water Treatment Plants in Delhi have been shut down due to rising water level in the Yamuna River, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday.

“These WTPs, Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla, have to be closed for the time being as flood water levels have crossed the danger mark and have entered these plants,’ he said.

Kejriwal, during his inspection of the flood affected areas and WTP, said that some areas will face water problems due to this, but as soon as the Yamuna water recedes, these plants will be made operational.

The CM said that the water level of the Yamuna River is increasing continuously. Now the water has reached the 208.46 mm mark, which has crossed the previous records for water level.

He appealed to the people not to go on those routes where Yamuna water comes on the roads.

“The people are being evacuated from the populated areas where there is water. The people who are living there are asked to cooperate with the administration,” he said.

Kejriwal tweeted and wrote, “All government and private schools are being closed in the areas of Delhi where flood water is filling up.”
