Every year, reports of innocent Hindus being killed or attacked on the day of Eid coming out has become a run-of-the-mill affair. This year too, as if following the ‘trend’, a group of five Muslim friends stabbed a 17-year-old Surya Chauhan to death. CCTV footages from the Khoda area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, that captured the crime taking place, surfaced on the internet. The incident took place at around 3.30 PM on Thursday, May 28, on the day of Eid-ul-Adha.
Allegedly, the main accused, Asad, accompanied by his friends, called Surya over to himself, who also had friends along when the incident took place, and asked him, ‘Have you ever seen a goat being sacrificed?’, to which Surya replied with a ‘No’, and that was when Asad took a knife out and started stabbing Surya repeatedly. After attacking the victim in cold blood, Asad and his companions fled away from the scene.
Surya’s friends immediately informed his family about what had happened and helped him to be taken to a hospital in Noida, where he succumbed to his injuries the very next day.
Based on a complaint filed by Surya’s elder brother, an FIR was registered at the Khoda police station under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke breach of peace).
After the complaint was filed and the FIR was registered, the Khoda police went on the lookout for all the accused involved in the brutal killing of Surya Chauhan. And while Asad was absconding, two others were arrested by the police.
While looking for Asad, the police got a tip-off that Asad was to return to Khoda after fleeing away following the crime he committed. That was when they reached the area and started looking for the absconding accused. That was when they spotted Asad riding a bike with a friend of his, and despite the police’s warnings, and them asking him to stop riding, Asad opened fire on the police personnel. As counteraction, the police opened fire at Asad, and he was shot. After this, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, and died of the gunshot wound. A police constable was also shot when Asad fired the gun.
After Asad’s encounter and two others being arrested, another accused friend of theirs remains absconding. Interestingly, Asad’s father, Nawab was arrested today after investigations led to the fact that he was the key conspirator of the murder and asked Asad to kill Surya. As per the police probe, the murder was planned after an argument that took place between Asad and Surya earlier, allegedly over riding a bike.
While the probe continues and police personnel do their job, it is for us to ask, how many Hindus will keep losing their lives because of this vile hatred that labels them as detestable ‘Kafirs’? Deep under the different pretexts of fights and arguments that lead to such murders, lies this hatred that makes the lives of Hindus valueless in the eyes of such perpetrators. Why else, otherwise, would it become such a walk in the park for the Asads out there to just stab a ‘friend’ in broad daylight, without even batting an eye?
