Bhubaneswar: Retired Orissa High Court Judge Justice J P Das will monitor the crime branch inquiry ordered by the state government to probe in to the assassination of Minister of Health and Family Welfare Naba Kishore Das at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on Sunday last.

Earlier, the state government had ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into the incident and had requested the High Court to appoint a sitting or Retired judge of the High Court or a district judge to supervise and the monitor the inquiry.

While the Opposition BJP has been demanding a CBI probe into incident the Congress party has been demanding a court monitored SIT into the case to unravel the truth.

The former Minister Naba Kishore Das died at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar while undergoing treatment after Police ASI Gopal Krushna Das fired at him from a close range at Brajarajnagar.

The minister was immediately shifted to Jharsuguda District headquarters hospital from where he was airlifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed to the bullet injury despite

all efforts of the doctor.

Later the accused was arrested and dismissed from service and the Crime Branch has taken him on four day remand and now interrogating him.

The government meanwhile has transferred Jharsuguda SP Rahul Jain and Brajarajnagar Nagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi to state Police Headquarter.
