New Delhi: In a veiled attack on the BJP-led government at the Centre, Congress president Mallikarjun on Monday said that Parliament should not be used as a platform to “stifle” the voice of the Opposition.

“Parliament should not be used as a platform to ‘stifle’ the voice of the opposition,” Kharge, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha wrote in tweet.

He added, “Parliament should be the platform of discussion, debate and honest deliberations.”

Kharge on Monday in Rajya Sabha raised the issue of suspension of its MP besides ‘expunction’ of some of his speech in the Upper House last week.

Earlier in the day, a meeting of Opposition parties was held at Kharge’s chamber in the Parliament House building on various issues.

Among the issues that were discussed in the meeting include Adani issue and expunction of Kharge’s speech in the Upper House last week.

Congress along with other Opposition parties have been demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe or an inquiry under the Chief Justice of Supreme Court to look into the Hindenburg Research report over Adani Group.

The report alleged that Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades.
