Infiltrator killed in Kupwara

Srinagar: Security forces shot dead an infiltrator in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, police said.

They said an infiltrating group was intercepted at Saidpora in Tangdhar sector following a specific input.

“During the preceding night, based on a specific input generated by Kupwara police, joint team of Army & Police intercepted an infiltrating group in Saidpora forward area. The joint team has neutralised one infiltrator,” a police statement said, adding the search operation in the area is still going on.

The identity of the slain could not be ascertained immediately.

This is the first infiltration bid that has been foiled this year in Kashmir.
