New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court to challenge his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the liquor policy scam case.

On Tuesday morning, senior advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the matter before the Apex Court bench, for urgent hearing before a bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha.

The court initially pointed out the petitioner can approach the High Court under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The counsel, however, said the writ petition filed under Article 32 of the Constitution was covered under the Vinod Dua case judgement.

The court also said it has entertained a similar writ petition filed by Congress leader Pawan Khera as it involved multiple FIRs.

However, on repeated requests, the court agreed to hear Sisodia’s plea at 3.50 pm on today itself.

Sisodia was arrested on February 26.

Special judge M K Nagpal jad yesterday remanded Sisodia to CBI custody for five days for “further and extensive interrogation”.
