New Delhi: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, mentioned his plea, on Monday before the Supreme Court to fix a date for his case to be heard, seeking to quash the FIR in the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development scam case.

The CJI-led bench of the Supreme Court, however, asked him to come tomorrow and mention it again before it, as today the matter was not listed in the mentioning list.

The Supreme Court refused to give a date for the hearing and allowed out-of-turn mentioning of the petition of Naidu today.

Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra, appearing for Naidu, told the top court that the gentleman is in judicial custody. This case is related to the state of Andhra Pradesh, where the opposition is being curbed. He was arrested on September 9.

“Come tomorrow after mentioning in the list,” the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, asked Luthra.

Former Andhra Pradesh CM and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief and National President, Chandrababu Naidu, has moved the Supreme Court on Saturday, challenging his arrest and the FIR registered against him in the alleged Rs 371 crore skill development scam case.

Naidu had knocked the doors of the Supreme Court, after the Andhra Pradesh High Court had dismissed his petition, saying that it couldn’t interfere in the case since the “investigation is on fulcrum of attaining finality”.

Justice Sreenivasa Reddy of the AP HC, while dismissing Naidu’s petition on Friday, said the investigating agency examined more than 140 witnesses and collected about 4,000 documents pursuant to the registration of the crime in the year 2021; therefore, the court was not inclined to interfere with the proceedings when the investigation was on the fulcrum of attaining finality.
