Kolkata: Throwing a virtual challenge to the Enforcement Directorate which has summoned him, All India Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Friday said he will be in New Delhi in October 2 and 3 to lead the party’s protest against the Central government.

While the Trinamool has announced the two-day protest in the national capital accusing the Narendra Modi government of not releasing funds for the various central schemes, the ED has summoned Banerjee on Oct 3 here in relation to the alleged school jobs scam. The ED is probing the money laundering angle of the purported scam following a Calcutta High Court order.

“Stop me if you can,” Banerjee, who is also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said in a posting on X (formerly Twitter).

The ED has ordered the Diamond Harbour MP, who is also the CEO of the firm Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd, to appear with documents at its office in the CGO Complex, Salt Lake, here on October 3 at 10-30 AM.

‘The fight against the non-transfer of funds to WB and its rightful dues will persist regardless of the obstacles. No force on Earth can hinder my dedication to fight for the people of WB and their fundamental rights. I’ll be in Delhi joining the protest on October 2 and 3, ” Banerjee said.

‘Earlier this month, the ED summoned me on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of the I.N.D.I.A (block) in Delhi. I dutifully appeared and complied with the served summons,” Banerjee said.

Banerjee is a member of the committee.

“The ED conveniently served me a notice to appear before them on the very same day! One can’t help but marvel at the timidity and vacuousness of the 56-inch chest model. Fear of I.N.D.I.A,” Banerjee said on his previous call by the ED.
