Amidst the speculations of senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Kamal Nath, severing ties with the grand old party, and switching to the BJP instead, going rife, on Sunday, February 18, Congress General Secretary, Jitendra Singh, claimed that Kamal Nath told the Congress, when asked about the same, that he would not join the BJP.

Apart from this, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief, Jitu Patwari, said, ‘The rumours that Kamal Nath is joining the BJP, is an example of how the media can be misused. This was a conspiracy against Nath. I spoke with him and he said that all this is just rumours, and he is a Congress-man and will continue to remain one. He will continue to have a Congress ideology till his last breath. These are his own thoughts.’

‘I met with Kamal Nath today and had a discussion with him. He said that his focus is entirely on how to distribute tickets for the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, and on what the caste equation on each seat will be. He added that he had no thoughts of leaving the party, nor has he discussed it with anyone.’, stated former MP CM and Congress leader, Sajjan Singh Verma.

Earlier, senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh, too asserted that Nath would not leave the party, and would not cave in to the ‘pressure’ asserted by the central agencies like the ED, I-T, or the CBI.
