New Delhi: Close on the heels of Amul hiking prices of milk, Mother Dairy on Monday also announced to raise the prices of milk by Rs 2 per litre.

The price revision is applicable for all variants of milk effective June 3, 2024.

Accordingly, Mother Dairy full cream milk will now be available at Rs 68 per litre while cow milk will cost Rs 58 per litre. Toned and double-toned milk will be sold at Rs 56 and Rs 50 per litre respectively. Buffalo milk has been increased to Rs 72 per litre.

The leading milk sellers have increased the milk price days after Lok Sabha elections concluded.

Both the milk sellers said that the prices have been raised to compensate the producers for their increased production costs.

“The increase of Rs 2 per litre translates to a range of 3-4% increase in MRP which is much lower than average food inflation. It is worthwhile to note that since February 2023, Amul has made no increase in prices of fresh pouch milk in major markets,” Amul said in its statement.
