United Nations: Hungary will be glad to welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told RIA Novosti, commenting on Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s invitation.

Orban invited his Israeli counterpart to visit Hungary after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November. The Hungarian leader criticised the ICC arrest warrant as “brazen, cynical and completely unacceptable.”

“We have sent an invitation, so once the Prime Minister Netanyahu is ready to do so, he’s always welcome,” Szijjarto said.

The minister described his country’s relationship with Israel as strategic cooperation.

He called the ICC’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for two Israeli officials alongside three Hamas leaders a “politically motivated step” that is “humiliating” the international judiciary system.
